The Mission Beyond Maps 🗺️
True to our mission of 'Creating Vision for All Since 1970', our GHL VisionFirst team embarked on a journey that tested our dedication. Reaching SK Muhibbah presented two choices: a precarious sampan crossing with our delicate equipment, or a longer land route through muddy trails and unexpected construction.
Upon arrival, we found the school's front gate under renovation. But in a heartwarming display of community spirit, road workers moved heavy machinery to clear our path, while school staff helped unload our gear. These challenges highlighted why our work matters – where access is limited, our commitment must be limitless.
Precision Care by Expert Hands 🦺
Led by our two senior opticians, the team conducted meticulous refraction examinations. The session ran smoothly from 10am to 2pm, resulting in life-changing outcomes:
12 students comprehensively screened
12 students approved for fully sponsored spectacles
Multiple complex cases were identified and carefully managed
"Navigating physical barriers to reach these students made providing care even more meaningful. This is why 'Every Pair of Eyes Matters'," shared our senior optician.
Creating Lasting Impact 🔄
All twelve students will receive custom spectacles through the MySPECS scheme, with annual follow-ups planned. This project embodies our core belief: where there's a need for vision care, we'll find a way to deliver it.
